Spotify Shower Playlist: Can You Make It To 3 Minutes?
We’re challenging you to reduce your showering time, one song at a time! Take on our Spotify challenge today and see how much water (and money) you can save (remember, every drop makes a difference!)
More and more of us are choosing to take shorter showers, which can help us save on our household bills and reduce our water consumption. With that in mind, we have launched a new campaign that challenges you to actively reduce the amount of time you spend in the shower, saving you time, and money, and reducing your environmental impact (it’s a win-win)!
We’ve put together the ‘Shower Songs To Power Through’ playlist on Spotify - challenging you to decrease your showering time. Starting at 5 minutes with the first song, move down the playlist by a song each day and gradually knock seconds off your showering time; just remember - when the music stops, halt the drops!
But how does shortening your showers help to reduce your carbon footprint? In simple terms the shorter the shower, the less water used; the less water used, the less energy used to heat the water – which means less carbon emissions released into the atmosphere. Typically, the average 8-minute shower has been estimated to use up to 12 litres of water per minute; based on the average 3-person household (each showering 5 times a week) that’s over, 74,000 litres a year!
Sounds a lot, right? Well, the good news is that it’s easy for us to make an impact in the bathroom, however big or small. Let’s say 10% of households reduced their average showering time by 2 minutes - that’s a potential saving of 26 billion litres a year, the equivalent of over 10,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools*.
It’s also not just our emissions that we can more positively influence. According to research conducted by Harvey Water Softeners in 2021, singing in the shower over several days specifically can evoke happiness, stimulate alertness, and make people feel generally more energised. Singing in the shower can help us explore the physical health benefits of hydrotherapy, and the psychological benefits associated with elevated mood and focus.
Here at Triton, our mission is to inspire people to shower more sustainably. We are dedicated to developing products that help you reduce your carbon footprint and help you to save water, energy, and money every time you shower!
